Baptism

"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: 'Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.'" (C.C.C. 1213)

Bringing our children to the Baptismal font is the first step of our Christian Initiation.

The parish will work to help the parents and the God-parents (of children under 6 years) come to a fuller understanding of this beautiful Sacrament. A session for parents and godparents is offered throughout the year with Baptisms scheduled at the end of each month.

Items needed:  

• Register in the Faith Formation Office 
• Copy of the child's birth certificate
• For Godparents:
  • Married: Catholic Marriage Certificate
  • Single: Baptism and Confirmation Certificates
• Cost: $60

Classes

• Parents and Godparents must attend a class before their child's Baptism: 1st Saturday (in Spanish) or 2nd Monday (in English).

Baptism Schedule:

• Please come to the office to schedule and coordinate the Baptismal date:
  • Spanish Baptisms are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 11 AM.
  • English Baptisms are held on the 4th Saturday of each month at 11 AM. 
  • There are no Baptisms during Advent or Lent.
  • As we are now part of a Parish Family, baptisms will alternate between parishes: one month at St. Pius X and the next at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
