After my first experience, I realized that I had witnessed an “encounter”. Something that was “shared”, not one sided. A pale comparison would be if you went to a concert and grew up with the artist’s music and knew every word to every song, that would feel shared; but this is not the same.
With the Passion of Christ encounter every “experiencer” sees himself/herself in one or multiple characters, and not the same ones every year. Like scripture (which of course is our script) this is a living and breathing encounter with Christ; and, as each year passes the life of the experiencers mature, so they relate accordingly.
No matter where you sit, at some point in time, you will either be in the front row or just behind it. This encounter is immersive, interactive, very personal, and recommended for mature audiences. Just like our Christian faith is matures.
The entire encounter is held in the sanctuary of the Catholic Church and around the Holy Altar. The Holy Sacrament is reposed from the Tabernacle during the encounter out of reverence.
Again, all are invited and welcome to experience the “encounter” as audience, actor, crew, or volunteer.
The Passion of the Crist Encounter is immersive, interactive, very personal, and recommended for mature audiences.
All Christians and Non-Christians are invited and welcome to be part of this amazing experience, as audience members, actors, crew or volunteers. For more information, watch a previous encounter to get a taste of the experience. Video links can be found near the top of the page.
We are always seeking more participants to join us; more information can be found in the "Do you want to be a part of it?" section to the left. This is a powerful proclamation of the Gospel, from the Sermon on the Mount to the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection. The entire Easter Triduum is proclaimed!
For those who are not familiar with this event, we want you to know that the performance takes place at St Elizabeth Ann Seton. The Sanctuary is completely transformed to include three main sets. The Encounter includes 18 scenes for approximately 2 hours. However, we cannot do this without your collaboration! We need your help and your participation; we need actors in speaking and non-speaking roles, backstage crew, costumes and makeup, set designers, etc.
AUDITIONS will be held on Saturday, March 1 from 1pm - 3pm. In station 7 (first floor of the Church). We invite you to come for the auditions and to the welcoming reception, which follows, and it will hold at 6:30pm in the main hall on the same day. You are welcome to invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join you for this awesome event.
