Fr. Miguel Marquez, MSpS, was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. He is the ten and last son of Arcadio Márquez and Emília Carréra. As a lay person, he worked at the Boing Engineer Machinist department. His vocation to the priesthood and religious life originated as a result of serving in a vibrant evangelization charismatic ministry for many years in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, CA. After a long process of spiritual discernment, Fr. Miguel joined the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit. He did his priestly formation at the Benedictine Seminary in Mount Angel, OR. He holds a Bachelor of Art in Philosophy and Religious Studies and Master of Divinity. He also did additional studies in Mexico City: Spiritual Direction, Vocational Ministry, and Human Formation.
Fr. Miguel was ordained to the priesthood on June 27, 2014, in Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Oxnard, CA and was assigned there as Parochial Vicar. He was also assigned as Confessor for students of St. John Seminary of Camarillo, CA. In 2016, Fr. Miguel was assigned as Vocation Director for our Province Christ the Priest and stationed at the Novitiate House in Long Beach, CA. In August 2017, he moved to San Antonio Texas to be part of the Theology Program Team. Some of his responsibilities there were vocation ministry, speaker of parish retreats, spiritual direction to priests, and celebration of Sacraments, especially the Eucharist on weekends. In 2019, Fr. Miguel returned to the Novitiate House to continue with his vocation ministry in the areas of Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Boise Idaho. Months later, he became the superior of that house. Being at the Novitiate House, he offered spiritual retreats to deacons and laity as well as spiritual direction to priests. He also had the opportunity to celebrate weekday and weekend Masses in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. With all of these responsibilities, Fr. Miguel was also the spiritual adviser of the Apostleship of the Cross in the region of Los Angeles. Now, he has been assigned as Parochial Vicar of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish. He will begin his priestly ministry on August 25th, 2021. He was assigned as Priest Administrator beginning June 1st 2022.
