Over the course of the next three years, our priests will be imparting a series of talks on a monthly basis in which they explain and help deepen our understanding of what are called the "Three Categories".
The Three Categories--Priestly People, Generating Processes of Holiness, and Salvific Solidarity--are born from the Missionaries singular mission which is to "extend the reign of the Holy Spirit." By living intensly the Spirituality of the Cross, by their way of life centered on the Eucharist, the Missionaries are called to help the people of God live a deeper and more committed union with God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, with Mary and through Mary. It is the Holy Spirit, God's Spirit of love, unity, and holiness, which binds humanity to it's true source of life.
In these talks, we will learn the history and development of the priestly people. We will learn what, for the baptized, it means to be a priestly people. We will also learn how to live out our baptismal priesthood to fulfill our God-given mission in this life.
By living committed to what our baptismal priesthood requires of us, we live in an intimate and transformative union with our Triune God. Since all Christians are called to be Christ to and for others, we must cooperate with grace so that this transformation may take place. In other words, we must allow the Holy Spirit to transform us into Christ, that is, generate a process of holiness in us. In effect, our own transformation will, by God's grace, in turn transform the lives of those around us. This is Generating Processes of Holiness. In this way, the reign of the Holy Spirit can extend, especially to those who most suffer because of injustice, marginalization, and other such human impediments to grace.
As followers of Christ, called to live out our baptismal priesthood while generating processes of holiness, we cannot remain indifferent to the sufferings of others. We must, like Christ, assume the sufferings of others as our own. In this way, by suffering with those who suffer, we live the third element necessary to extend the reign of the Holy Spirit which is Salvific Solidarity--salvation extends to those whom we suffer with.
